The Original CaddyTrek comes in black or candy apple red with red plastics. It uses a combination of Ultrasound and RF signal technology to calculate speed, distance, and angle to the player, allowing the unit to track in front of or behind the player. Golfers can simply walk their game as the CaddyTrek tracks their movement.

The CaddyTrek provides two different tracking modes: Follow and Marching. The tracking technology is virtually the same, with the only difference being the orientation of the player to the CaddyTrek. In Follow Mode, the golfer stands in front of the unit and clips the handset to their back waistband, and the CaddyTrek will automatically follow the golfer. In Marching Mode, the golfer clips the handset to the front of their waistband and stands behind the unit, allowing the CaddyTrek to track in front of them.

Additionally, the CaddyTrek can be used as a remote control caddy. By switching it into Remote Mode, the golfer can send the CaddyTrek up to 100 feet to the next tee box, providing additional speed and hill climbing ability.
